Supporting Cashew Farmers Through Warehouse Receipt Financing
Community Impact 08 September 2026
Our agricultural finance team recently visited cashew nut storage warehouses in southern Tanzania to inspect and verify stock held under warehouse receipt financing arrangements with local farmers and cooperatives.

Warehouse receipt financing allows farmers to store their harvest in a secure, licensed warehouse and use the stored produce as collateral to access financing — rather than being forced to sell immediately after harvest, often at lower post-harvest prices. This gives farmers the flexibility to hold their cashew nuts until market conditions improve, while still accessing the working capital they need.

This work forms part of Victoria Finance's broader commitment to agricultural value-chain financing through our KilimoPesa platform, which supports farmers across crops including cashew nuts, sunflower, sesame, cocoa and more in districts across Tanzania.

We remain committed to walking alongside smallholder farmers and cooperatives, providing financial solutions that protect the value of their harvest and strengthen their long-term stability.
